Albemarle boys lacrosse drops Charlottesville

Albemarle has been struggling of late to find the right lineup, the right mix of players to get the Patriots on track. But that’s okay according to Albemarle’s head coach because it’s still early in the season.

“That’s fine it’s still April,” said Albemarle coach Dave King. “We have another day.”

The Patriots managed to pick up a needed win Friday night, knocking off Charlottesville 15-7.

“We’re trying anything right now, not out of desperation but we obviously have not found the right mix,” King said. “We are just hot and cold and that can’t be the way. We have to sustain some quality play across the board.”

Ian Davis put together a strong effort for the Patriots, scoring five goals while dishing out two assists. Borgan Ezell had a four-goal night while Lorenz Brown had three goals and an assist. Justin Peck set the table with three assists to go with his goal. Ethan Blundin had a goal and an assist and Mateo Maughlin had two assists.

Nemo Lesesane and Ryan Richardson combined for six saves in the cage for the Patriots.

For the Black Knights, Sam Neale and Tom Stadler each had two goals, with Neale adding an assist. Will Werner finished with a goal and two assists.

The Patriots will travel to take on Fluvanna Tuesday while Charlottesville hits the road to face off with Powhatan the same night.
