Albemarle boys lacrosse blows past Patrick Henry

Albemarle’s boys lacrosse team is starting to pick up some steam.

The Patriots rolled 11-4 past Patrick Henry-Roanoke Wednesday night. It was a critical early season win over a Patrick Henry team that edged Charlottesville last year to get into the state semifinals.

Albemarle got a balanced scoring effort, with Hunter Brown, Chad Carmines, Matt Crist, Jonathan Pegg and Brendan Reece each scoring two goals. Brown also dished out two assists. Kevin Bernanrdino dished out two assists himself while Christian Willis rounded out the scoring with a goal. Robert Leytham and Pegg each also had an assist.

The Patriots’ three goalies — Nathaniel Gaspar, Kyle Seago and Grayson DeGroat — didn’t see a great deal of action as Albemarle controlled the offensive action. The three keepers made four total stops between them.

Albemarle is now 3-1, and host E.C. Glass on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
