AHS girls lacrosse bounces back, beats Patrick Henry

Albemarle’s girls lacrosse team has been on a bit of a roller coaster the last two games, beating Western in triple overtime before falling to Monticello after leading by five goals.

Things didn’t get any easier Wednesday with unbeaten Patrick Henry-Roanoke in town, but AHS proved up to the task, handing their counterparts their first loss of the season in a 7-5 defensive struggle.

Rebecca Mendelsohn scored two goals and dished out two assists to pace Albemarle while Lizzy Chapman, Ryann Murray and Heidi Karweik all had a goal and an assist a piece. Julia Hartman and Annie Barnes rounded out the scoring for AHS.

Ashley Lemon and Anna Kate Draper each had two goals for Patrick Henry.

Albemarle’s Haley Williamson finished with six saves on the night in the cage.

Albemarle now sits at 4-7 and will take on Charlottesville Friday in a crucial matchup at home.
