Miller’s girls basketball team knows how to get ready for a state tournament. The Mavericks have been to six straight state finals for a reason.
Tuesday looked like more of the same as the No. 2-seeded Mavericks beat Seton 61-47 to advance to the state semifinals.
Olivia Wagner poured in 22 points to lead Miller while Presleigh Braxton posted 17. Shauna Russell put together a 15-point outing. Wagner hit four 3-pointers on the night while Braxton had two.
The Mavericks jumped out to an 18-9 lead in the first quarter and held an identical advantage at the half, leading 28-19. They extended that lead in the third, pushing ahead to a 44-30 lead.
Seton kept hanging around, largely due to hitting 11 3-pointers, but couldn’t get much going inside where Miller held an advantage with their ability to drive to the basket.
Miller will face Steward in the state semifinals Friday at 4:30 p.m.
