Albemarle hockey shuts out Charlottesville

Albemarle’s field hockey team has been leaning on a balanced, multi-threat offense combined with a stingy defense all season long.

Thursday was no different as the Patriots dropped Charlottesville 6-0 on Breast Cancer Awareness night for Albemarle.

Anna Murray and Morgan Stilley each scored twice for Albemarle to lead the offensive attack while Kat Bianchetto and Sara Mutzabaugh had a goal each. Bianchetto logged a big night, adding two assists to that goal. Nyla Lewis finished with two assists as well.

Charlottesville keeper Rebecca Stuphin had 10 saves on the night for the Black Knights but the Black Knights’ offense didn’t manage a shot on goal as the Albemarle defense stepped up in a big way.

The Patriots will take on Western Albemarle Tuesday while Charlottesville looks to bounce back the same night against Orange County on the road.
