Woodberry Forest won its first Prep League cross country title since 2014 Friday, rolling with five finishers in the top 13 to a championship over runner-up Fork Union.

While Trinity Episcopal’s Nick Jean won the individual title and Wyatt Campbell of St. Christopher’s took the runner-up slot, it was James Carrington in third for Woodberry that set the pace for the team title winners with a time of 17:26.99, just 14 seconds off of Jean’s championship pace. William Rich finished fifth for the Tigers and then a pack of four runners put Woodberry over the top as Henry Clark, Clay Tydings, Henry Singleton and Parker Jacobs finished back-to-back-to-back-to-back from 11th to 14th. The quartet finished within nine seconds of each other.

Fork Union finished second with fourth-place finisher Julian Yescas leading the way. Blaine Toombs finished sixth for the Blue Devils and Quinn Calahan took 15th. Jack Greenson and Giovanni Desgrottes in 30th and 31st rounded out Fork Union’s effort.

Trinity finished third overall and Collegiate took fourth. St. Christopher’s finished fifth.

Eighth grader Zach Ashby and sophomore Sebastian Cave finished eighth and ninth for sixth-place St. Anne’s-Belfield.
