Western boys cruise past TA

stuarts

Western Albemarle’s boys tennis team’s early struggles didn’t really show up in the scorebook Tuesday, which is a testament to how quickly the Warriors got back on track after a couple of early slips in certain matches.

“A couple of matches we went down early and we were able to refocus and bounce back,” said Western coach Seth Heller.

The Warriors made short work of Turner Ashby in the Region 3A West quarterfinal, rolling 5-0 to wrap up a spot in the region semifinals where they’ll play for a berth in the state tournament.

To get there, Western will have to knock off Hidden Valley Western fell 7-2 in a scrimmage at the start of the season to Hidden Valley.

“I think we’re really deep so if it comes down to doubles that’s where I’m most confident,” Heller said. “Hopefully we can take care of it in singles but that’s a tall order with the talent we’re going to be coming across in the next couple of matches.”
