St. Anne’s-Belfield’s girls lacrosse team has weapons all over the field, but when you’re playing a team like Collegiate again after a regular season matchup, the Cougars are going to find a way to counter what you normally do.

You’re going to have to adjust, and STAB was up to that task Thursday afternoon in the rain, bouncing back from a 5-5 tie at halftime to pull away in the second half for a 10-8 win over Collegiate to win the LIS championship.

Sophomore Martha Oakey notched a hat trick while Tilly Matheson and Raleigh Foster scored two goals each. Addi Foster and Lellie King each had two assists and a goal and Lee Kestner scored once to round out the offensive effort.

Oakey was also critical to a dominant performance on the draw for the Saints, hauling in eight draw controls while Addi Foster grabbed four to give STAB a 13-7 advantage on the draw.

Eighth grader Hadley Booth finished with four saves in the cage.

The Saints now await their VISAA Division I tournament seeding. They were ranked No. 3 in the latest poll.
