St. Anne’s-Belfield’s boys lacrosse team’s offense has been on a tear to start the 2017 season, scoring 12 or more goals in every outing. But they hadn’t pulled off anything like the explosion they put together against Cape Henry Thursday evening.

STAB’s offense caught fire and the Saints rolled 23-12 past the Dolphins, with a particularly electric day from Connor Shellenberger leading the way with seven goals on just 10 shots and dished out five assists too.

Shellenberger also picked up eight ground balls.

The Saints scored 17 goals in the first half alone. Jack Schultz scored five goals and finished with two assists, while Joe Robertson also notched a hat trick and picked up five ground balls to round out a massive day for STAB’s top three weapons. Reeves Dunn and Emmett Barger also each had hat tricks while Trent Moran scored twice.

STAB held a 22-10 advantage on faceoffs, with Magnus Gould and Michael DiGiacomo helping boost that effort with five and three ground balls respectively. Thomas Harry had four ground balls.

The Saints (8-1) take on Jefferson Forest Tuesday before a big road clash with rival St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Wednesday.
