STAB girls lacrosse grabs spot in LIS semifinals

St. Anne’s-Belfield girls lacrosse went to work early against St. Gertrude in the LIS Tournament quarterfinals Monday.

 

The Saints jumped out to a sizeable lead in the first half en route to an 18-7 victory to advance to the LIS Tournament semifinals where the fourth-seeded Saints will face No. 1-seeded Collegiate.

 

STAB led 6-3 out of the gate and went on a strong 7-1 run to finish the first half and take control of the game behind a balanced offensive effort. Four players poured in three or more goals, with McKenzie Maurer and Claire Schotta each totalling five goals and three assists.

 

Liz Carden also got in on the action with four goals while Catherine Carden had a hat trick. Jovia Winkey chipped in a goal and Katie Define rounded out the offense with an assist.

 

Molly Morris had three saves for the Saints.

 

Mason Patton had a huge outing for St. Gertrude with five goals and an assist.
