STAB girls drop Middleburg with huge first half

St. Anne’s-Belfield’s girls basketball team made quick work of Middleburg Thursday night.

The Saints built an overwhelming lead out of the gate and rolled 80-16 over the Dragons.

Jovia Winkey poured in 25 points to lead the Saints, scoring 20 of those points in the first half as the Saints jumped to a 49-10 lead before halftime. The Saints created a ton of turnovers and easy buckets in transition with Kymora Johnson scoring 16 points and Bailey Cullen scored 12. Jada Bennett chipped in nine points, all of them in a 32-point second quarter.

The Saints are back in action Saturday against Saint John Paul the Great at 2:30 p.m.
