Miller boys win BCCC title over highly regarded Mount Saint Joseph’s

Miller’s boys basketball team picked up some serious steam last week heading into January when the Mavericks knocked off Mount Saint Joseph’s out of Baltimore 48-45.

 

The win came in the championship game of the Benedictine Capital City Classic against the Gaels, with the Mavericks’ John St. Germain helping finish off the game with a bucket with 1:45 left to play. MSJ tied the game with 1:45 to play after Miller had led from the start of the clash.

 

The victory pushed the Mavericks to 12-1 on the year.

 

Miller big man Tariq Balogun finished with 20 points and seven boards while earning tournament MVP honors. DaeDae Heard finished with 15 points and five rebounds in the win while St. Germain finished with seven points.

 

To get to the title game, the Mavericks beat Gerstell Academy 61-32 and Potomac School 53-46.
