Miller baseball efficiently dispatches Fishburne in VIC semis

Serious efficiency. That’s what Miller’s baseball team employed Thursday in a 10-0 win over Fishburne in the VIC semifinals.

Efficiency like Ethan Chenault allowing just two base runners in five games of a complete game effort.

Efficiency like Ethan Murray accounting for all three outs in the fourth inning with a diving snag of a liner and a tag at second.

Efficiency like seven different batters picking up at least one RBI so the Mavericks could take care of business as quickly as possible.

The Mavericks advance to the final Friday at 5:30 p.m. where they’ll host the winner of Covenant and Carlisle who’ll lock up at Miller ahead of the title game in the other semifinal that was postponed Thursday.

Chenault threw a one-hitter and allowed one walk while striking out four in five innings of work. He also helped his own cause offensively, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, highlighted by a second-inning solo home run.

Murray hit a pair of doubles in addition to his glove work in the fourth. He finished 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jeremy Wagner also had a multi-hit game with a triple and two RBI. Jack Marshall also hit a triple while Nate Burton added a double. Adam Hackenberg, Brent Rice, Nate Burton and Lucas Knight each had an RBI.
