Louisa’s Smith tabbed as preseason All-USA pick

A year after earning All-USA honors for the state of Virginia via USA Today as just a junior, Louisa County’s Brandon Smith was tabbed by the same publication as a preseason All-USA national pick.

Smith, who committed to Penn State this spring, had 119 total tackles including 18 TFL during Louisa’s run to the state championship game where they fell to Salem. He is a complete, sideline-to-sideline linebacker when he plays in the center of the defense, capable of running down anyone with his 4.59 40-yard dash time and 6-foot-4, 228-pound frame. He’s also an explosive hitter.

He returns to the Lions this season with a new head coach in Will Patrick and a number of new faces around him on defense with the graduation of standouts Job Whalen, Raquan Jones and Tony Thurston.
