Fluvanna County’s softball team knows it doesn’t have much to worry about when Annaleise Kennedy is in the circle.
The junior showed exactly why Friday night when she threw a perfect game against Louisa County, a Region 4A North semifinalist last season, to help lift Fluvanna to a 2-0 win over the Lions.
Kennedy recorded six strikeouts and didn’t give up a walk or a hit in the complete game, 7-inning victory. She also helped her own cause by drawing a walk in the second inning, which opened the door for her courtesy runner Bri Harris to advance around the bases and eventually score on a passed ball.
That run was all Kennedy needed during the perfecto to get the win, but Fluvanna tacked on a second run in the fifth inning when Lexi Scott drove in Tiffani Shaheen, who’d reached on a fielder’s choice two batters earlier.
The Flucos, with Kennedy in tow, travel Tuesday to take on Monticello while Louisa will look to bounce back on the road against Orange County.
