Hudson powers CHS past Glass, into conference semifinals

Charlottesville’s boys basketball team’s offense has been a little bit streaky of late, but when the Black Knights are on, you can usually tell early.

You could tell Monday night that they were on in a 71-55 victory over E.C. Glass in the first round of the Conference 23 tournament. The win pushes Charlottesville into the conference semifinals where they’ll take on top-seeded Amherst.

Jaylen Hudson exploded for 30 points for the Black Knights, including a 16-point second quarter and five 3-pointers for the game. That explosive second quarter led to a 42-28 halftime lead for the Black Knights and Charlottesville held off the Hilltoppers from there to advance.

Hudson got some assistance from sharpshooter Patrick Ronayne who scored 12 points on four 3-pointers, one in each quarter. Sam Neale finished with nine points on the night.

The Black Knights face a quick turnaround against Amherst as they take on the Lancers Tuesday.
