Madison Primary Care

Madison County’s Kara Morgan McHaney had a whale of a day at the Group 2A Swim and Dive Championships in Christiansburg, winning a pair of state championships in the 200-IM and 100-fly to cap a stellar career for the Mountaineers.

The victory in the 100-fly was her second straight state title in the event and it helped lift the Mountaineers to a third place finish in the state.

She also helped spark Madison to a pair of third place finishes in the the 200-medley and 400-freestyle relays. Madison also finished fifth in the 200-free relay. Claudia Gohn, who also swam on those two third place relay finishes, finished as the state runner-up in the 100-backstroke.

For the Goochland girls, the Bulldogs managed a sixth place in the 200-free relay and Jackie Tremain took 13th in the 100-fly.

On the boys’ side, Madison’s Dale McNamara finished seventh in the 200-IM and 15th in the 500-free while the Mountaineers finished 14th in the 400-free relay. For Goochland, Robert Brown finished 15th in the 100-back.
