Covenant’s girls tennis team will get a shot at a state title.

The Eagles, seeeded No. 2-overall, beat Nansemond-Suffolk 5-2 Friday afternoon at PVCC’s courts in the VISAA D2 state semifinals. An win by Hampton Roads Academy in the other semifinal over Highland also gives Covenant the opportunity to win the state title without leaving Charlottesville as HRA will head to Charlottesville Saturday at 1 p.m. to battle the Eagles.

Covenant won four singles matches, with Emily Dahnert, Eleanor Lee, Briana Boland and Hayley Fox winning. In doubles, Dahnert and Boland combined for a victory and Ashley Lainhart and Fox worked together to pickup a win.

Covenant’s Corinne Jennings absorbed a loss against a talented Elvie Sellers at No. 1.
