With a group effort on the mound and a solid day from Declan Kent at the plate, Covenant’s baseball team beat Blue Ridge at home Wednesday 12-2.

The Eagles bounced back from surrendering a first inning home run to the Barons’ Cameron Carr to pick up the five-inning win.

Kent went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and scored twice. Freshman Brice Wilson also had his first varsity hit and stole a base in the victory.

Luke Burton, Wes Arrington and Aaron Leathers combined to strikeout six in five innings while surrendering just two hits and walking just one.

Will Moore had two RBI while Burton knocked in three runs. Jake Haney scored three runs.

Covenant plays the Central Virginia Disciples Friday while Blue Ridge hosts Fuqua Monday.
