Charlottesville’s girls basketball team started off just a touch slow Friday night, but things changed quickly in the second quarter.

Trailing after the first quarter by six, Black Knights used an explosive second quarter to take a five-point lead and hold on for a 55-46 victory over Albemarle.

Tati Allen led the way for Charlottesville during that second quarter, scoring 10 of her 15 points in the frame, including knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. From there, T.C. Younger took control, scoring 12 of her 16 points in the second half to power the Black nights. Lakasia Calloway chipped in 11 for Charlottesville.

Albemarle couldn’t counter the second quarter punch, but Marquelah Wilson managed a 15-point performance and Jamie Rademacher notched 11 points. Makinna Winterton had nine points.

The Black Knights will try and keep things rolling on the road against Fluvanna Tuesday night while the Patriots will try and bounce back when they host Harrisonburg Monday night.
