Albemarle wins first 2018 Jefferson District golf matchup

The Jefferson District’s golf series got off to a rain-shortened stop Wednesday at Birdwood with Albemarle picking up a win by 13 strokes. The match had to be shortened to 12 holes after weather impacted play. The 12th was the last hole that all players completed, so it was a par 47 on the day. The Patriots carded a 209 to outpace runner-up Western Albemarle who posted a 222. The Patriots’ Jack Bruns’ 47 was the days low score through 12 holes while Western’s Luke Vance finished with a 49 to take second place.

After playing a series of dual matches against each other the rest of this month and the first half of September, the Jefferson District’s eight teams will lock horns again at Old Trail in Crozet on Monday, September 17.
