Albemarle’s softball team faced a tough task in the Region 5A north quarterfinals, and the Patriots continued a scrappy, resilient postseason by taking Stone Bridge to the brink, falling 2-1 in eight innings.
The Patriots’ Ellie Cain held Stone Bridge to just six hits and two hits in another strong effort in the circle. Kasie Pace went 2-for-4 with a double. Logan Friesen and Meghan Brown each went 2-for-4.
Albemarle wraps the season at 14-8.
