Albemarle girls lacrosse powers past Mountain View, earns region berth

Albemarle’s girls lacrosse team didn’t just dominate the draw Monday evening against Mountain View.

 

They essentially owned it in their 14-4 victory in the North/West Group semifinals.

 

Albemarle won 15 of 20 draw controls in the win, securing a Region 5A South berth in the process. Jenn Wendelken filled up the stat sheet, pulling in seven of those draws while notching a hat trick and an assist as well as five ground balls to give the Patriots a major spark.

 

Kelsey Myers led the offense with five goals on eight shots while also notching an assist.

 

Morgan Rose had two goals and two assists while Cam Edson had two goals and an assist. Erin Keller snagged four ground balls, scored a goal and had an assist. Jane Pinnata also notched a goal.

 

The Patriots advance to the North/West Group final Thursday before starting region play.
