Woodberry picks up road win over Benedictine

An early Ed Reynolds touchdown and three Layton Brown field goals were enough to lift Woodberry Forest to a win on a rainy Saturday in Richmond.

The Tigers edged out Benedictine 16-7, bouncing back from last week’s narrow loss to Landon.

With Ade Oyalowo knocked out of the game with an injury in the first quarter, Reynolds carried most of the load on offense, piling up 190 yards on 37 carries. He did get some help from reserve Jeff Smith, who had 48 yards on 14 carries.

The Tigers jumped out to a 10-0 lead on Reynolds’ 1-yard touchdown and Brown’s first field goal. Benedictine narrowed the Woodberry lead to three with Greg Petrohovich’s touchdown pass to his twin brother, Drew Petrohovich.

But Brown knocked through a pair of second half field goals to help Woodberry hold off Benedictine.
