Woodberry blows out Bishop Ireton in opener

If Ed Reynolds keeps up at this breakneck pace, anyone facing Woodberry Forest is going to be in trouble. In a 43-14 drubbing of Bishop Ireton, Reynolds averaged 18.9 yards per carry on 11 touches, piling up 208 yards and a touchdown.

The Tigers rolled in the win, jumping out to a 21-7 lead at the break before exploding in the fourth quarter. It didn’t hurt that Bishop Ireton did some damage to themselves with a snap for a safety during that frame, but a pair of Layton Brown field goals also helped the cause.

Ade Oyalowo got in on the rushing game explosion with 47 yards on 16 carries including a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Alex Hagood, in his first start at quarterback for Woodberry, was solid, posting an 8-for-14 outing that included a 7-yard touchdown toss to David Dossett in the first half. Hagood also scored the Tigers’ first touchdown of the game, also from seven yards out.

The Tigers take on McDonough next Saturday in their home opener.
