William Monroe’s Wayland historic outing powers Dragons past Warren County

William Monroe catcher Alexis Wayland has some serious power.

Historic power, actually.

Wayland and the Dragons’ softball team kept a solid start to the 2016 season going Tuesday night with a 9-1 victory over Warren County.

Wayland blasted three over-the-fence home runs last night, joining a group of just 10 players in Virginia state history to accomplish the feat according to the VHSL record book. Wayland is the first since 2012. In other words, Wayland has now tied a state-wide record for most home runs in a game shared by 10 other players. The last to accomplish the feat before Wayland was Chilhowie’s Kristen Murphy in 2012.

Monroe softball will return to action against Rappahannock Friday
