The Western Albemarle girls posted a convincing victory on the road Thursday night with a 72-48 win at Monticello.
Ellen Shaffrey registered 22 points, 12 rebounds and two assists to spearhead a balanced team effort. Versatile point guard Kelsey Swanson added 13 points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals while Erin Steva had six points, three steals, and two assists. Forward Carolyn Schneller registered six points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Western is now 13-5 overall and 9-2 in the Jefferson District.
Bridget Holleran led the Mustangs with 19 points while Carla Brooks added eight.
Monticello is scheduled to play at Albemarle on Saturday at 6 p.m. while Western hosts Orange County for a big district game on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
