Western ends losing streak

Western Albemarle ended a four-game skid Friday night with a 41-6 victory over Charlottesville.

The Warriors leaned on the backfield tandem of quarterback Abbot Wallenborn and running back Adam Diehl in the win, with Wallenborn rushing for three touchdowns and throwing two more. Diehl had a score of his own.

The Western defense held Charlottesville scoreless offensively, with the Black Knights’ lone touchdown coming in special teams when freshman Chris Thurston broke loose with an 80-yard runback for a touchdown.

Western hits the road next week to take on Monticello while Charlottesville hosts Louisa County.
