Western boys take second in Conference 29 indoor meet, Monticello and Fluvanna post individual winners

Western Albemarle’s boys indoor track team finished second Wednesday in the Conference 29 Championships, falling to champion Turner Ashby 142-83.

 

The Warriors got a big boost from Gannon Willcutts’ double event title outing as he won the 1000-meters and 1600-meters. They also got a lift from Trevor Stutzman winning the 3200, with teammate Max Feuerlein grabbing second.

 

Corey Sims took second in the 55 hurdles while Landon Smith finished second in the pole vault. Jack Ehelenberger finished fourth in both the 1000 and 1600-meter races.

 

Monticello finished fourth as a team, with Jeanluc LaPierre posting a big day with a win in the high jump and runner-up finishes in the 500-meters and long jump.

 

Jerrick Ayres was the runner-up for the Mustangs in the 55-meters while David Mayes took fourth. Monticello’s relay team won the 4×200 and the 4×400 team finished second.

 

Fluvanna County’s 4×800 team took second while Keegan Campanelli won the pole vault for the Flucos.
