STAB slips past HRA to snap losing skid

St. Anne’s-Belfield’s Chase Emmert had one more left in his tank apparently. And that’s a good thing, the Saints needed it.

Emmert scored the go-ahead touchdown with 5:22 to play from six yards out and the Saints’ defense held from there as STAB beat Hampton Roads Academy in an eight-man game 24-20.

It was a big win for the Saints, who narrowly lost a couple of weeks ago to the Navigators, snapping a four-game losing streak.

The Saints’ ground game got contributions from four different players, with Amani Woods’ 114 yards and a touchdown on 21 touches leading the way. Emmert had 57 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Thomas Harry chipped in 41 yards on the ground and Gabe Decker had 40 yards and also came up with the two-point conversion after Emmert’s late score to force Hampton Roads to try and score a touchdown. Harry and Decker each had seven tackles on defense.

Myles Ward had 44 yards on five catches. The Saints converted five of nine fourth down conversions.

Jalen Norton rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown on 15 touches. Kahleef Jimmison scored two touchdowns and gained 65 yards on eight carries.
