Spring Sports roundup 4.17.17: Albemarle girls soccer, CHS boys soccer, MHS girls lacrosse pick up wins

Albemarle’s girls soccer team kept things rolling Monday night, picking up a 6-0 shutout win over Powhatan, with Katie Schnell’s two goals leading the way for the Patriots.

Paige Horn, Fizzy Gonzalez, Leticia Freitas and Grace Williams also chipped in goals, with Gonzalez also dishing out an assist. Hannah Eiden and Makinna Winterton each had two assists and Catie Grebe rounded out the helpers with one of her own.

 

Charlottesville boys cruise past Orange County

 

Charlottesville’s boys soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 7-1 victory over Orange County Monday night.

Seven different Black Knights scored in a balanced offensive effort. Campbell Brickhouse, Barun Tamang and Evan Blow each notched a goal and an assist, while Alex Pfister had two assists. Isaac Kenner, Lucas Higgins, Amdane Sanda and Abibi Osman rounded out the scoring with a goal each. Herbert Ryan also had an assist.

The Black Knights face a big test Wednesday night at home against Western Albemarle.

 

Monticello girls lacrosse rolls past Culpeper

Monticello’s girls lacrosse knocked off Culpeper 18-9 Monday, with Paige McGlothlin exploding for the Mustangs.

McGlothlin dominated with nine goals, three assists and nine draw controls. Ari Archer also put together a strong performance with a hat trick, two assists and six draw controls. Sophia Shepherd had two goals and an assist and Caleigh Smith had a pair of goals. Amaya Gibson and Kendall Smith each had a goal and an assist.
