Albemarle boys lacrosse’s Lorenz Brown had himself a day on the road at Salem Thursday, pouring in six goals, all of the Patriots’ output, in a 6-5 victory over the Spartans.
Brown’s explosive performance included a first quarter hat trick and helped Albemarle escape with a win.
It helped of course that the Patriots’ defense was stingy too, holding Salem to just five goals while winning the ground ball battle 34-24. Ryan Richardson made eight saves in the cage for the Patriots. Samuel Mallow and Connor Warner each had an assist.
Zach Mason led Salem with three goals.
Albemarle girls soccer beats Louisa
Albemarle’s girls soccer team shut out Louisa County 8-0 Thursday night, peppering the Lions with 28 shots.
Albemarle struck fast with a goal less than 90 seconds into the game. Brooke Bauman and Fizzy Gonzalez each had two goals with Gonzalez also chipping in two assists. Katie Schnell had a goal and an assist while Makinna Winterton, Savannah Alexander and Paige Horn each scored. Leticia Freitas and Gracie Williams each had an assist.
Western girls tennis drops Monticello
Western Albemarle’s girls tennis team swept Monticello 9-0 with Rosy Ix and Anna O’Shea both scoring 10-0 singles wins to lead the Warriors.
