Western baseball beats Orange

After four innings, Orange County baseball was up by a pair of runs and seemed to be in control against Western Albemarle at Porterfield Park.

But the Warriors woke up in the fifth and scored three runs to grab a one-runlead, an advantage that eventually stretched to the 7-2 final as Western picked up the win.

Dylan Weiss had a big night with three hits and two RBI. Henry Kreienbaum ripped a triple in the fifth that brought in a run. He had two hits on the night. Stevie Mangrum also had a pair of hits. Including Kreienbaum’s triple, Western had five extra base hits in the last three innings with doubles from Derek Domecq, Chris Hughes, Mangrum and Ryan Sukovich.

Josh Casteen steadied the Warriors on the mound, earning his fifth win of the season while giving up just one earned run and five hits. He struck out four and walked two.

Western (11-2, 8-1 in JD) will take on Albemarle Thursday at 6 p.m. while the Hornets will travel to take on Powhatan the same night at 6:30 p.m.
