Albemarle softball drops Charlottesville

Albemarle’s softball team dropped Charlottesville 13-0 Tuesday night, with Khouri Turner posting a no-hitter in the circle while also ripping a double and an inside-the-park home run.

Kasie Pace went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Patriots and hit a home run, her first of the seaon. Kirsten Clark had a pair of singles.

The Patriots will look to keep it going against Liberty Christian Academy Friday night at home.

 

Albemarle boys soccer drops Mountain View

Albemarle’s boys soccer team picked up a solid win over Mountain View Tuesday night, winning 2-1.

The Patriots got a pair of goals from Griffin Coffey and Daniel Starr, with Andrew Weber and Brendan Moyers assisting. Goalie Jake Gelnovatch came up with four saves.

 

Western baseball beats Waynesboro

Western Albemarle baseball rolled 9-0 over Waynesboro on the road Tuesday night.

Derek Domecq put together a complete-game, 14-strikeout, one-walk performance, scattering just three hits in his seven innings.

Junior Sam James knocked in four runs while Sam Hearn had two RBI. Chris Hughes and Domecq knocked in a run each.

 

Mahone no-hitter lifts Covenant baseball

Covenant’s baseball team picked up a 14-0 victory over Trinity Christian Tuesday, with Tyler Mahone throwing a 5-inning no-hitter where he struck out 10 of the 15 batters he faced.

Mahone faced the minimum number of possible batters, picking off Trinity Christian’s lone base-runner who reached on an error.

Donovan Jackson finished with a single and a double for the Eagles while Jack Marshall connected for his first hit of the year for Covenant. The win pushes Covenant to 7-2 on the year and they’ll travel to take on North Cross Thursday.

 

Orange baseball falls to Spotsylvania

Orange County’s baseball team surrendered six runs early and fell to Spotsylvania 8-1.

The Hornets managed three hits, with Tre Smith, Blake Schaar and Bradley Hanner accounting for the hits, with Hanner knocking in the Hornets’ lone run.

 

Western boys tennis blanks Monticello

Western Albemarle’s boys tennis team took care of business against Monticello High Tuesday evening, sweeping singles and doubles against the Mustangs.
