Orange field hockey falls to Kettle Run

Things didn’t get started off on the right foot for Orange County’s field hockey team Wednesday night in the squad’s regular season opener, but it’s hard to argue with the effort the Hornets put together before falling to Kettle Run.

Orange dropped a 2-1 double overtime contest to the Cougars despite the fact that the Hornets controlled the action with more than 30 shots on goal and Kettle Run managed just nine shots.

Kayla Hooper netted Orange’s lone goal with an assist from Olivia Newman. Kettle Run’s Emma Thoden and Ashley West knocked home the Cougars’ tallies.
