Orange County struggles, Chancellor rolls

After scoring the game’s first points, Orange County had a tough go of it against Chancellor on the road Friday night.

Tyrone Ellis’s 9-yard touchdown run after a Chargers fumble gave the Hornets their only lead of the game as Chancellor responded with score after score to win 45-14.

Behind talented back Micah Cunningham, Chancellor scored 45 unanswered points to answer Ellis’ tally. Orange struggled in the turnover department, throwing four interceptions to the Chargers to make matters worse.

Ellis broke the scoring streak late in the fourth quarter when he completed a 6-yard pass.

The Hornets were without one of their top playmakers from last year, Amir Waller. Last week in an exhibition game against Madison County, the Hornet’s junior receiver broke his hand. The injury will likely shelve Waller for the rest of the season.

Orange gets a chance to get back on their feet next week when they visit Culpeper County.
