Orange County rallies past Fluvanna County in overtime

Orange County was down two and needed a spark against a Fluvanna County team that was enjoying an incredible senior night performance from Kobe Edmonds.

The Hornets got it with a wild sequence in the final minute and picked up a 71-68 victory over the Flucos.

First, Diyon Jasper scored on a putback with 40 seconds left, followed quickly by a Destin Bray steal. Bray pushed it ahead to JJ Macdonald for the go-ahead two with a 69-67 lead with 29 seconds to play. After Edmonds nearly sunk the equalizer off a spin move in the lane, Jasper grabbed the rebound and after some savvy ball movement, Alexander Coppola made a nice pass to Bray to extend the lead to four points with 10 seconds left.

The Hornets, who moved to 9-1 on the year, finished with a balanced offensive night as Bray totaled 21 points, Macdonald scored 19 and Sheldon Robinson had 17 points.

Edmonds finished with 33 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists in the loss for the Flucos.

Orange County faces a big test Tuesday night when the 9-1 Hornets travel to take on Western Albemarle while Fluvanna will look to bounce back on the road against Albemarle.
