Orange County baseball rolls past Charlottesville

Thanks in part to a three-run home run from Kyle Johnson, Orange County baseball beat Charlottesville 10-0 Thursday night.

Johnson went 2-for-4 with four RBI at the plate including a three-run inside-the-park homer that pushed the Hornets’ lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the sixth.

Luke Jarrell was tremendous on the mound as well for the Hornets, striking out six in six innings of work while scattering just two hits and walking three.

Orange County led 4-0 after two innings and then finished the game with the five-run sixth. Caleb Tinsley, Jarrell, Wyatt Kent and Corey Amos each knocked in runs with Jarrell helping his own cause with a 2-for-3 night at the plate. Trey Clatterbuck went 2-for-3 at the plate too.

Devin Shifflett struck out four for Charlottesville in four innings on the mound.

The Black Knights will look to get back on course Tuesday against Albemarle on the road while Orange travels to Fluvanna the same night.
