The Nelson County boys cross country team placed second in the Dogwood District championship on Wednesday afternoon.
Matt Brown and Albert Lachance led the way for the Governors with their respective second and third place finishes at Frazier Farm in Altavista. Nelson finished 21 points behind host Altavista.
In the girls race the Governors came up with a third place finish. Fiona Jones, Sami Cunningham and Danyelle Phillips each placed in the top 11. Jones and Cunningham finished seventh and eighth respectively, while Phillips came in eleventh.
