Monticello girls lacrosse sprints past Midlothian in region quarters

Monticello’s girls lacrosse team turned on the jets in the second half Thursday evening and rolled 20-10 over Midlothian in the Region 4A South quarterfinals.

 

Summer Larese poured in nine goals and dished out three assists for the Mustangs to ignite the win on a hot day at the River City Sportsplex. The Mustangs led 11-7 at the half and proved to be in the midst of a decisive 9-0 run that spanned from late in the first half to deep into the second half as the Mustangs took over. By the end of the run it was 18-7 Monticello.

 

Paige McGlothlin had five goals of her own for the Mustangs. Mackenzie Trainor also had five goals as well as two assists. Evie Maxwell had a goal and an assist while Kendall Walin set the table for the Mustangs with three second half assists.

 

Carly Harris finished with six saves in the cage for the Mustangs.

 

Monticello advances to the Region 4A South semifinals. They’ll face Salem at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
