Monticello girls lacrosse beats Midlothian, takes big step toward state tournament

If the Monticello girls lacrosse team is going to reach the Group 4A state tournament, they’re going to have to become road warriors to get there.

Step one complete.

The Mustangs (12-5) knocked off Midlothian in the Region 4A West tournament quarterfinals Thursday night 19-12 to move within one win of a state final four berth. They’ll clash with Jefferson Forest in the region semifinals Tuesday at Jefferson Forest at 6 p.m.

Meghan Walin notched a hat trick and added a pair of assists while Ari Archer had two goals and an assist. Kendall Walin scored once and had two assists while Caleigh Smith scored twice.
