Monticello falls to Huguenot

Monticello fans have been spoiled a bit during the last four years. Not since 2005 have the Mustangs lost in front of their home crowd, but the 21-game streak came to end on Friday as Huguenot picked up the road win 26-20.

The Mustangs crawled out of a 12-0 deficit in the third quarter to go up by one, but the Falcons answered by scoring two touchdowns to take the lead by thirteen. Tyler Moneymaker chiseled the gap down to six points with 8:21 to go in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t rally any further.

Monticello’s C.J. Page ran for 95 yards on 23 attempts while Moneymaker finished with 12 carries for 38 yards and two scores.

Nick Kalinsky tied the Mustangs record for field goals in a game with his 38 and 29 yard kicks. So far the Mustangs kicker is perfect on the year. He’s made all three field goal attempts and strung through all seven point after attempts.
