Leave No Doubt: Goochland steamrolls Skyline in Region 2B semifinals

Goochland’s football team obviously was intent on not leaving anything to chance Friday night.

With a monster first half from C.J Towles, the Bulldogs jumped on Skyline early and often en route to a 56-22 victory over the Hawks in the Region 3B semifinals.

The Bulldogs have now attained a goal that has always been a rallying cry for the program — the opportunity to practice on Thanksgiving Day. Goochland will face James Monroe in the Region 3B title game after both squads romped through the first two rounds of the region playoffs.

Towles torched Skyline at quarterback, going 6-for-7 in the first half for 114 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a pair of sixes as a defensive back, returning one for a 60-yard touchdown and the other 90 yards to the house.

Devin McCray and Kam Holman had the two touchdown catches from Towles, with McCray scoring from 38 yards out while Holman had a 30-yard catch for his touchdown.

Will Stratton continued his special teams wizardry, blocking his 10th punt of the season and recovering a misplayed kick return by Skyline.

The Bulldogs will likely play the region title game Friday, but official time is TBA.
