Late Turner interception helps Fork Union trump Episcopal

While Fork Union coasted past its first three opponents, Saturday didn’t prove nearly as easy when the Blue Devils hit the road to take on Episcopal.

The Maroon gave FUMA about all it could handle in Alexandria, but a late Jamel Turner interception with less than two minutes to play sealed the Blue Devils’ 13-6 victory on the road.

Fork Union struck early in the contest when Richard Quittenton found Akeem Garnett for a 49-yard touchdown with 6:10 to play in the first quarter.

Andre Parker increased the lead to 13-3 on a 5-yard run early in the third quarter. Parker finished with 106 yards on just five carries.

Episcopal managed just a pair of field goals in the loss, with one coming with just one second left in the first half.

FUMA’s defense still hasn’t allowed a touchdown in four games and they held Episcopal to just 163 yards of total offense (97 on the ground, 66 through the air).

Fork Union has to head north again next Saturday when the Blue Devils lock up with Woodberry in what should be a battle.
