Just a couple of days ago we got this email:
“I just wanted to thank you for being good journalists! So often and especially in sports (at the high school level), the story is reported as told by someone else (coach, etc). You guys come and watch the games and deliver a story based on what YOU saw. Thank you and congratulations.”
This reader summed up one of our major tenets quite nicely. We want to report on what’s going on in Central Virginia’s high school sports scene with an eye toward high-end journalism by being there. Over the last 12 months we’ve proven that we’re going to be everywhere we possibly can.
Now we’re asking you, the reader, to help support our local schools, and in turn, support our focus on Central Virginia high school and community sports through the Scrimmage Play Playmakers club.
With your purchase of a $75 membership, you’ll get the print magazine in your mailbox each month for the duration of this school year, and you’ll get an exclusive Playmakers t-shirt that only members will have. You’ll also be eligible for offers and giveaways from our partners during the school year, and, as we always try to do at Scrimmage Play, we’ll continue to add to the Playmakers experience. On top of that, you’ll get to designate $20 of that sum to go to the school or athletic organization of your choice.
You’ll also help ensure that we’ll do exactly what we’ve done over the last 12 months — provide in-depth, inventive coverage of high school athletics through both our print magazine and our web portal here at www.scrimmageplay.com.
Teams and clubs are also encouraged to use the Playmakers Club as a fundraiser. Just let us know that you’d like to be added to the current roster of athletic departments and clubs and we’ll make that happen. Then, the more people you direct to Scrimmage Play to join, the more money we’ll be able to send your way.
With your support, we’ll make sure that for years to come, Central Virginia’s high school athletes will get the coverage, support and exposure they deserve.
