Girls Basketball Roundup 2.1.17

Charlottesville’s girls basketball team bounced back from a slow third quarter to rally past Fluvanna County 56-52.

Alajiah Ragland led the attack with 16 points including four 3-pointers on the night, but Destinee McDonald helped close the deal with seven of her 10 points in the fourth quarter. Daeja Wade chipped in 11 points.

Nevaeh Ivory finished with 18 points, six rebounds and two steals. Niya Brown finished with 16 points and four rebounds for the Flucos.

 

Orange girls beat Monticello

Orange County held Monticello to just two fourth quarter points to grab a 32-28 victory over the Mustangs. Laine Harrington led the way for the Hornets with 15 points, going 5-for-8 at the free throw line.

Diamond Towles chipped in six for Orange. For Monticello, Ciana Graham-Shelton and Camille Blaine had eight points each.

 

Albemarle girls beat Powhatan

Albemarle’s girls basketball team blew past Powhatan 50-15.

The Patriots got 11 points from Haylee Howard-Radde while Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper finished with nine points and Kayla Mann had eight points.

 

Monroe beats Clarke

William Monroe girls basketball’s Sam Brunelle exploded for a triple double with 34 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks as the Dragons beat Clarke 60-45.

Dajour Strother also had a big night with 12 points and eight rebounds while Lindsay Knights had eight points and four rebounds.

 

STAB girls roll St. Margaret’s

On senior night, seniors Bri Tinsley and Jayla Davis put up nearly twin stat lines as the Saints beat St. Margaret’s 64-18.

Tinsley and Davis each had 20 points and five steals, with Davis also grabbing six boards while Tinsley had five rebounds and three assists.

Sierra Smith pulled down 14 rebounds while Vanessa Woodfolk had seven boards and three blocks.

 

Other Scores

Buckingham girls basketball beat Randolph-Henry 42-24.

Madison County girls basketball falls to Strasburg 41-37.
