Ginsberg headed to Emory and Henry

Daniel Ginsberg felt that time was of the essence.

Instead of waiting around for a potential offer to pop up late from a Division I basketball program, the Blue Ridge School point guard pounced on an opportunity to battle for immediate playing time at Emory & Henry.

Ginsberg, a Charlottesville native, said he is awaiting a packet from school officials so that he can make his verbal decision to play at the Division III level official.

“After AAU was over there were some Division I schools that were on and off and I wanted to make a decision fairly early,” Ginsberg said on Thursday. “You never really know with those schools. I visited a few D-III schools early in the year and applied and Emory & Henry had a nice amount of money and probably the best opportunity to start my freshman year.

“I like the coaches over there. They are great guys so that will be a lot of fun. I am looking forward to it.”

Ginsberg, listed at 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, scored 10 points on Senior Day to help Blue Ridge top LCA and advance to the VIC title game against Miller on Saturday.

Emory & Henry finished the 2011-12 season with a 12-14 record.

“They need a point guard so I will probably get an opportunity to play freshman year and maybe start,” Ginsberg noted. “It is in the ODAC, which is good basketball, so it should be a lot of fun.”
