Madison County’s wrestling program resides in a loaded conference that includes one of the state’s top Group 2A programs in Strasburg.
Despite that tough competition, the Mountaineers managed to finish third as a team and pick up a quartet of individual Conference 35 champions to power that finish.
Jalyn Simms won at 132 for Madison while Zach Gibson won at 145, Gabe Farmer won at 180 and Eric Cashman won at heavyweight.
Meanwhile Zach Waters at 120, Dalton Dudley at 152, Dylan Montgomery at 182 and Joseph Manuel at 220 all managed to finish as conference runnerups.
Rounding out the solid performance, Chase Berry took third at 195 and Rodney Lewis took fourth at 160 for the Mountaineers.
Madison’s region qualifiers move on the Region 2A East tournament.
