Charlottesville wins Conf. 23 golf title, Fluvanna advances

Two area golf squads are moving on to the Region 4A North tournament after Wednesday’s Conference 23 championship match at Winton Country Club in Amherst.

Charlottesville High’s squad wrapped up the Conference 23 title with a team score of 328, taking the championship by 24 strokes over second place Fluvanna.

A.J. Stouffer’s 77 set the tone for he Black Knights as he won individual Conference champion honors. Zack Russell’s 83 and then a trio of 84s from Emmy Timberlake, Thadd Probst and Banks Northington followed.

The Flucos also advance to the region title with their 352 that edged out Harrisonburg’s 355.  Jack Stanke’s 82 led Fluvanna while Christian Baber managed an 86 and Nick Yancey and Kaitlin Presley rounded out the runner-up finish with a 91 and a 93 respectively.

Louisa County carded a 363 as a team to finish fifth, with Mitchell Thorde’s 87 and Ryan Fleshman’s 89 leading the way.

Fluvanna and Charlottesville will compete next week in the Region 4A championship match down at Ivy Hill Golf Club in Forest.
