Charlottesville’s golf team came up a couple of shots shy of a region championship, but they’re moving on to the state tournament after taking second place behind Region 4A North champion Jefferson Forest at Ivy Hill in Forest.
Jefferson Forest shot 312 to take home the title while the Black Knights carded a 315 in the runner-up slot. Thadd Probst’s 75 and Phillip Hoffman’s 77 led the way for CHS and Zack Russell’s 80 and A.J. Stouffer’s 83 closed out the state-qualifying score.
The state tournament is slated for October 13 and 14 back at Ivy Hill.
